Metamorfosis
Modular and stackables seats

"Metamorphosis" is a collection of modular and stackable seats that suggest the transformative and adaptive capacity of aluminum through the exploration of its shapes and sizes. The aim is to shed light on the metal spinning process, given the prior research context on its situation in Mexico City. These seats offer variability in their use, either for taking a moment of rest within the routine or as a decorative sculptural element for spaces. Metamorphosis is inspired by a minimalist aesthetic that provides a comfortable and elegant ambiance with a touch of playfulness.

The design and manufacture were developed alongside designer Alejandra Lope Castañeda and our aim was to play with shapes following the principles of the possibilities of the metal transformation, generating a certain complexity in its design to highlight and make visible the metal spinning process. Likewise, the stackable pieces together would have a strong visual weight that would favor the metal rejection, and each one separately could be part of a product family.
Metamorfosis is an integral component of the broader collection known as Revoluciones, symbolizing an innovative collaboration between designers and urban artisans. Working collectively, we meticulously crafted a range of utilitarian and decorative home pieces from scratch. Rooted entirely in the metal spinning technique, each of us faced unique challenges in bringing forth products that seamlessly meld traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design aesthetics.
For the manufacture of these aluminum seats, we worked hand in hand with the Mr. Agustín a woodturner who helped us make the wood mold. On the other hand, we worked with Cid Family, a family-owned company with over 50 years of experience, currently led by Mr. Nazario, Mr. Miguel, and their sons Francisco and Christopher.

The proposal's objective is to redefine the way leisure moments are experienced in routine situations such as working in the office or from home.
For the 20% usage of another material, we aim to create bases and tops within the stools that help generate a contrast with the stacked rejected pieces. For this material, we are considering using light woods such as pine or even considering the use of beechwood.
